FIRA Champions Cup

Overview Honours Roll Team appearances Sources Current Season

It was the first attempt to create a Champions Cup.
The tournament was not succesfull and was discontinued after only three editions.
The main reason for the failure was the absence of the british and irish teams. They were absent because not members of FIRA, but also because they did not consider fair for club rugby playing official competitions.

The tournament was irregularly played with a variable number of partecipating nations: only France, Romania and West Germany played every one of the 3 edition.
Some sources ([1], [2]) report of a 1962/63 edition with Grenoble losing the final against an unknown team. This is probably not true because there is no evidence of this tournament edition.
